Why is foot care so important?Proper and regular foot care can help to reduce pain, increase mobility and circulation, decrease swelling, and can assist in preventing injury, sores, and ulcers. It also increases the chances of catching concerns early on.
-
Why should I see a foot care nurse instead of going for a pedicure? For many reasons! We help assess and monitor medical problems that affect your feet We identify areas of concern and create a plan to assist in healing and promoting healthy feet We are able to provide education about your medical conditions and medications that may affect the feet We know how to help with your complicated foot conditions We help advise you on how to create a healthy foot care routine We are held to a higher standard by AHS to provide safe, clean, adequate, and quality foot care
-
Do you work with diabetes patients?Yes! I am trained not only to work on diabetic feet, but also to educate diabetics about diabetes and the importance of foot care. It is SO much more important when living with diabetes.
-
Why is foot care more important when you have diabetes?Diabetes can reduce circulation and cause damage to the nerves in the feet, also known as neuropathy. With reduced feeling and circulation to the feet, diabetic feet are more susceptible to cuts, sores, and infection. If cuts, sores, or infection are not caught and treated early enough, it can lead to amputation. Having an extra set of eyes on diabetic feet is crucial to maintain their optimal health.
-
What can I do to maintain healthy feet between appointments?Maintain hydration, wear good fitting shoes, use lotion daily- if possible, wash feet daily with warm water and mild soap - don’t forget between the toes, and make sure to dry well!
-

If a resident within the Valley View Manor in Rimbey, or Eckville Manor House is needing foot care, please contact the manors directly to get their name on the next foot care clinic sign up sheet. -
How long does a foot care appointment take? Most appointments take anywhere from 30-45 mins. The first appointment is closer to 45 mins as I create a personalized chart where I gather personal and medical information. If someone is needing more time, due to feet sensitivity or impaired cognitive function such as dementia, please let me know and we can accommodate for that.
-
How often should I have foot care appointments?Every 4-12 weeks. It really depends on your foot care needs, ie: how fast or slow your nails grow, whether or not you’re dealing with corns or calluses and how often they are needing care.
-
Can I schedule regular appointments to keep my feet healthy?Absolutely!
-
What payment methods do you accept?Cash, Cheque, E-transfer

-
Can I claim my receipt through insurance?Yes! please see the “Insurance” tab” on the main page!

Do you soak feet? No. Foot care nurses do not soak feet. Because: Soaking removes the natural oils from the skin It increases circulation making it difficult to asses and identify concerns such as poor circulation and/or discoloration It increases the risk of infection. While it is great for softening hard nails, it also softens the skin, increasing the risk of nicks and cuts during your visit
-
Do you paint toenails? No. I am providing medical foot care, not a pedicure. You may paint your nails between visits, but please make sure to have it removed before your next appointment.
-
What is needed to book a private appointment in my home?A simple call, text, or e-mail!
-
Can I book back-to-back appointments for me and a family member?Yes! So long as I have the space available to do so. Booking regular follow-up appointments in advance is a great way to ensure a back-to-back appointment.
-
What supplies do you need provided for my appointment in my home?Just a comfy spot for you to sit! I bring the rest!
-
We have pets in our home. Is that ok?Yes! I love animals! I have 3 dogs and 2 cats myself. I don’t mind them saying hi and checking things out, but if they’re needing too much attention during your appointment, I may ask that they be put in another room for the remainder of the visit.
-
Where do you run foot care clinics?I currently run clinics in Rimbey, Bentley, Sylvan Lake, Condor, Leslieville, Valley View Manor, and Eckville Manor House.
